Preparation and Procedure

Your health is our priority

Before Arriving For Your Appointment

Please wear loose and comfortable clothing to your ultrasound exam. In some instances, you may be asked to change into a clinical gown. All jewelry and clothing will be removed from the examination area to avoid any errors in the exam.

For certain exams, additional preparation before the exam may apply. The preparations required are such as abstaining from food and water for a period of time before your appointment, or arriving at your appointment with a full bladder. If this type of preparation is necessary, you will receive instructions to do so when setting up your appointment.

During your exam, our Sonographer will apply some warm water based gel on the examination area. Then, a transducer will be placed against your skin, then moved back and forth until the image is captured. This is a quick, painless experience and you should not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. In more sensitive areas, such as when the transducer is inserted into a body orifice, you may feel some pressure or minor discomfort. Once the required images are captured, the gel will be wiped off your skin and your exam is complete.
